Capsicum Fever has been programmed in the first of a new series of concerts of fixed works at the University of California, San Diego on Friday 27th September 2013. The series is curated by Tom Erbe, Zachary Seldess, Elliot Patros, and Jamie Pawloski, and I’m delighted to be in a programme with Elizabeth Hoffman, Jane Rigler, Dave Gedosh and Erik Deluca. Capsicum Fever is currently playing in the Electroacoustic Listening Room at the Eighth Biennial International Conference on Music Since 1900, Liverpool Hope University. The conference takes place from the 12th to the 15th of September. For more information click here. 

Guest Artist at Sound Off Salon, NYC


On 12th September I’ll be presenting a mixture of live electronic improvisation and fixed media works as invited guest artist in the Sound Off Salon series, a series of sonic art performances curated by the NYC-based organisation ((audience)). Doors open at 7pm at 16 Beaver Street NYC, 4th floor.

British Library Recording Session


Today I was recording vintage audio equipment at the British Library Sound Archive Studios for a new piece. Many thanks to Nigel Bewley and his team for hosting me and for their assistance throughout the day. It was a fascinating experience to explore a wide range of audio equipment ranging from a late 19th century cylinder phonograph to a Wurlitzer juke box. Now to start editing over four hours of material…

Capsicum Fever programmed at CMMR 2013 in Marseille


Capsicum Fever has been accepted for performance at the 10th International Symposium on Computer Music Multidisciplinary Research (CMMR). The conference takes place from 15th – 18th October 2013 in Marseille, France. and will focus on the theme of ‘Sound, Music and Motion’.

From 17th – 20th July I’m participating in the Human Computer Confluence Summer School at IRCAM, Paris, where I’m working as part of a research group exploring biophysical and motion sensors for augmenting the body with sound.

Porous Torsion performance in E-Poetry 2013

John Ferguson and I will be performing as part of the E-Poetry Conference 2013. We’ll be playing a live electronics set in the opening concert of the conference, taking place in the main theatre at Watermans Arts Centre, 7:30pm on Monday 17th June 2013. Capsicum Fever has been accepted for performance at the International Computer Music Conference taking place in Perth, Australia, from 11th – 17th August 2013.

Sold Out: Bailes Mecánicos @ Edinburgh International Festival


The fantastic Sax Ecosse Saxophone Quartet will be performing Bailes Mecánicos again this summer at the Edinburgh International Festival on 19th August. I heard this week that the concert, which includes works by Michael Torke, Joe Cutler, and Jonathan Dove, is now sold out! However they will be playing Bailes Mecánicos again in Peebles in 2014 – date and location t.b.c.

Colour #1924 on MuseRuole’s ‘On the Air’ Jukebox



Colour #1924 (Icy Purple) has been selected for this year’s MuseRuole Festival, showcasing experimental music by women.  The full playlist of selected works was presented at Museion Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bozen, Italy on 5th June and is now available on Museruole’s soundcloud page. As part of this project Colour #1924 will be played on Radia, an international network of 24 independent stations, on national and local radio stations, and from 7th-30th June 2013 it will be part of a listening station at the Women’s Museum in Meran, Italy.
